Our country, Afghanistan is the birthplace of many esteemed religious scholars, Sufis, poets, and prominent intellectual and spiritual figures. Among these prominent personalities is Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi, who was born in Balkh to a learned family in the early 7th century Hijri.
Prior to reaching the age of maturity, Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi's family departed from Afghanistan. He subsequently spent the majority of his life in Konya, Turkey.
Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi, an eminent Afghan scholar and spiritual leader, profoundly impacted Islamic literature, culture, and global thought through his writings and poetry, driven by his deep pursuit of knowledge and commitment to teaching and spiritual guidance.
Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi is internationally known for his profound intellectual contributions and valuable academic works. His name, writings, and thoughts are familiar not only to our own people and within the Islamic world but also on an international scale.
Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi played a key role in the development, promotion, and recognition of Islamic literature and culture. His well-known book, the Masnavi- e -Manavi, a collection of thousands of verses, is considered one of the masterpieces of literary and spiritual works worldwide.
During numerous historical eras, Afghanistan has nurtured many eminent figures, thinkers, and geniuses like Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi. These individuals are not only considered a source of pride for our beloved Afghanistan, but they have also greatly contributed to the Islamic Ummah and the world, playing a significant role in the progression of human society and Islamic civilization, literature, and culture.
Understanding Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi’s life and personality in depth requires more research by scholars and intellectuals. I urge them to illuminate the different aspects of Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi’s personality and his valuable role in the development of Islamic literature and culture, so that the younger generation can better recognize this eminent spiritual and mystical figure of our country and benefit from his guidance and scholarly philosophies.
May Almighty Allah reward the officials of the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan, as well as the organizers and participants of this seminar, for their efforts in organizing this important conference in honor of Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi’s significant contributions to Islamic literature and culture.
I am confident that scholars, researchers, and admirers of Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi will engage in insightful discussions about his life, thoughts, poetry, and literary contributions. May Almighty God bless their efforts with success and prosperity.
