In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Forty-eight years ago, on the 7th of Sawr (April 27, 1978), a military coup was carried out against the then government of Afghanistan by a number of communists, thereby paving the way for communist aggression in the country.
This act was intended to occupy the territory of Afghanistan and impose a foreign communist ideology upon it. However, the believing and freedom-seeking Muslims of Afghanistan did not permit the dream of Soviet colonialism of the twentieth century to materialize. They conducted a courageous struggle over a full fourteen years and ultimately achieved a great victory, success, and independence on the 8th of Sawr (April 28, 1992).
All praise and gratitude be to Allah.
The Islamic Emirate condemns the coup of the 7th of Sawr and the subsequent communist aggression against our sacred territory, and considers the 8th of Sawr a historic day of pride marking the liberation, success, and victory of our country, and a great blessing from Allah Almighty for which we must all express gratitude.
At that time, the oppressed people of Afghanistan were hopeful that they had attained the fruits of their fourteen-year jihad and would thereafter live in peace under the blessing of victory and under a Sharia law-based government of their choice. However, internal factional wars and divisions extinguished all such hopes, thereby wasting the great aspirations of the Muslim people of Afghanistan for the establishment and consolidation of a pure Sharia law-based government.
With the arrival of these historical days of the 7th and 8th of Sawr, we once again emphasize that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, which was established for the purpose of unity, ending chaos and disorder, and implementing Sharia law, has now reached that objective. It is now incumbent to firmly safeguard the Sharia law-based government, and for all Afghans to remain united and committed to ensuring the continuity and stability of a firm and well-established Sharia law-based government in Afghanistan, Inshallah.
