The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, met at the Arg Palace with the Chairman of the Afghan Hindu and Sikh Council, Majit Singh Lamba, and several members.
During the meeting, which was also attended by the Head of Political and Public Affairs, respected Sheikh Mahmood Zakiri, the Chairman of the Afghan Hindu and Sikh Council expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and conveyed his appreciation to the officials of the Islamic Emirate for consistently giving due consideration to their concerns and requests and for assuring them of appropriate solutions.
He stated that Afghan Hindus and Sikhs remain committed to their country. He also presented their requests and proposals regarding seized lands and properties, electricity, and licensing for traditional (Unani) medicine. In addition, he submitted a written petition to the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office concerning a gurdwara located in Shor Bazaar of Kabul city, which is affected by a planned road project.
While welcoming the Chairman and members of the Afghan Hindu and Sikh Council, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, stated that as a result of nearly five decades of war and insecurity in the country, numerous challenges have emerged, including widespread land and property usurpation. He noted that not only Afghan Hindus and Sikhs but also other citizens have had their lands and properties seized, and that the relevant institutions and courts of the Islamic Emirate will take the necessary action in this regard.
Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi assured them that their concerns and requests would be referred to the relevant institutions and officials for appropriate consideration and resolution, and that their proposal regarding licensing for traditional (Unani) medicine would also be communicated to the officials of the Ministry of Public Health.
