H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met this morning with Mr. Abdullah Azizov, Head of the Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, along with his accompanying delegation.
The meeting was also attended by Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid, Deputy Minister for Food and Drug at the Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate. During the meeting, Mr. Abdullah Azizov highlighted the readiness of Uzbek traders and investors to invest in the import and distribution of medicines in Afghanistan.
He added that several Uzbek traders and investors have already arrived in Afghanistan and intend to hold discussions on investment opportunities, as well as explore solutions to challenges related to providing high-quality medicines.
Mr. Abdullah Azizov emphasized that the import and distribution of high-quality medicines, along with gaining public trust, are among their top priorities. He reaffirmed their commitment to supplying Afghanistan with medicines of the same quality as those produced and used in Uzbekistan.
He also stated that they are ready to cooperate in providing laboratory equipment and in enhancing the capacity of laboratory personnel.
H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi welcomed Mr. Abdullah Azizov and his delegation, describing investment in Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical sector as a valuable step by the Republic of Uzbekistan toward strengthening bilateral relations.
He added that the Islamic Emirate welcomes all investments in the country and will provide the necessary facilities to traders and investors.
H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi further stressed the importance of importing high-quality medicines and noted that relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan are at their best, expressing the Islamic Emirate’s interest in further expanding cooperation, particularly in the economic and trade sectors.
