Economic Commission Ratifies Draft of National Development Strategy

The Economic Commission convened its regular session under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Al Hajj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, at Marmarin Palace.

The draft National Development Strategy was submitted to the Commission for deliberation. Following thorough assessment and the incorporation of amendments recommended by the Commission, the draft received approval.

The National Development Strategy constitutes a comprehensive, unified, and long-term framework devised to articulate and attain the nation’s core objectives over a five-year horizon. It has been formulated under the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, with the Ministry of Economy serving as secretariat, in coordination with relevant sectoral ministries.

The strategy aspires to a stable and prosperous Afghanistan, grounded in constructive regional and international engagement. Its principal aims include adherence to Islamic Sharia law; the promotion of efficiency, transparency, and accountability; the strengthening of regional and global relations; the establishment of enduring peace and national security; job creation and economic development; the safeguarding of religious and national identity, territorial integrity, and Islamic sovereignty; the effective stewardship of natural and national resources; the enhancement of public service delivery; the stimulation of industrial, commercial, and private sector growth; the advancement of infrastructure and regional integration; and the improvement of social welfare and environmental conditions.

Additionally, the Ministry of Finance was instructed to allocate funding in the fiscal year 1404 budget for feasibility studies pertaining to the construction of a natural reservoir in Mandol District, Nuristan Province, and hydroelectric dams in the Kalagush area of Nurgram District, Nuristan Province.

Concluding the session, two private sector proposals received approval.

These include the construction of a Tir Park in Khanjan District, Baghlan Province, with an investment of 209 million Afghanis, and the development of an underground commercial market comprising 511 shops in central Ghazni Province, with an investment of 309 million Afghanis.

These items have been submitted to the Office of his Highness, the Amir-ul-Mu’minin (may Allah protect him) for final ratification.
