The Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister Holds a Video Conference with the United Kingdom’s Special Representative for Afghanistan

The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Alhaj Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, held a video conference this morning with the United Kingdom’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Richard Lindsay.

The Deputy Head of the Afghanistan Department at the United Kingdom’s Foreign Office, Edmund Hadley, and the Political Adviser of that country’s Foreign Office, Faiz Mohammad Wafamal, also participated in the video conference.

The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office thanked the United Kingdom’s Special Representative, Richard Lindsay, for arranging this opportunity and provided information regarding that country’s humanitarian assistance and the ongoing political situation in Afghanistan and the region.

The United Kingdom’s Special Representative, Richard Lindsay, said: “We are monitoring the situation and remain in contact with both sides. War is not a solution; therefore, it would be preferable for mediating countries to take action and for the issues to be resolved through dialogue.”

He added: “Afghanistan and Pakistan are two neighboring countries, and their peoples reside in each other’s countries. We support the resolution of existing issues through negotiations.”

He further added: “No country supports the use of migrants as a means of pressure, and every country has the right to decide which migrants to accept and which migrants to return to their country with full respect.”

Alhaj Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi said that the Islamic Emirate has always emphasized maintaining good relations with the world, the region, and neighboring countries. Afghanistan and Pakistan have previously maintained good relations and cooperation, and our negotiation team has held meetings with them; however, due to their unreasonable demands, the negotiations remained inconclusive and they chose war, the consequences of which will not be good.

Alhaj Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi said that it is preferable for issues and problems to be resolved through dialogue, and for this reason we have always supported mediation and negotiations by friendly countries; however, it now depends on the Pakistani side whether they give priority to negotiations or to war.

He added that Pakistani government officials, instead of resolving their internal problems, repeatedly create difficulties for Afghans, harass our migrant compatriots, confiscate their property, and deport them in a very cruel, inhumane, and forced manner. He further stated that they bombard civilians in Afghanistan and martyr our ordinary citizens, including children and women. In response to these injustices, the Islamic Emirate has the right to firmly defend and protect its people.
