H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met this morning with Dr. Tajudeen Oyewale, Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Afghanistan, along with his accompanying delegation.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Tajudeen Oyewale expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the Islamic Emirate in delivering humanitarian assistance to those in need, particularly returning migrants. He stated that the United Nations, especially UNICEF, remains committed to supporting the people of Afghanistan and is working to provide further humanitarian assistance to returning migrants.
He further noted that, as a result of joint efforts between the organization and officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, employment opportunities have so far been created for 45,000 individuals. He added that the organization is ready to cooperate in the construction of residential townships for migrants and in creating job opportunities for the people of Afghanistan.
H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and appreciated the humanitarian assistance provided by the United Nations, particularly UNICEF. He said that the United Nations has always acted in a timely manner in support of those affected and has provided significant assistance in various sectors.
The Deputy Prime Minister also welcomed the organization’s readiness to construct townships and provide housing for migrants, adding that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will provide all necessary facilitation in this regard.
In his concluding remarks, he emphasized the importance of job creation for youth and stated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is ready to coordinate efforts in this area.
