The National Procurement Commission convened its regular meeting today at the Marble Palace under the chairmanship of Al-Hajj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the IEA.
In accordance with the agenda, 37 projects were presented to the meeting for consideration and approval. Following deliberations, 22 projects with a total value of AFN 10.2 billion were approved, and amendments were made to seven projects.
In addition, designated committees were assigned to conduct negotiations with the successful companies regarding project pricing for four projects and to submit their findings to the leadership of the National Procurement Commission. The contracts of two projects were terminated due to the unwillingness of the contracted companies to execute the projects at the agreed contractual prices, and it was decided that these projects would be re-advertised for open competitive bidding. One project was likewise re-advertised for open bidding on the grounds that the prices submitted by the bidding companies significantly exceeded the estimated cost of the project. Furthermore, with respect to one project, the relevant authority was instructed to implement it through an appointed joint committee.
Moreover, one company was referred to the Deprivation Committee due to contractual violations and complaints lodged by institutions.
The approved and amended projects include the second phase of the Qosh Tepa Canal; construction of the terminal and parking facilities at Ahmad Shah Baba International Airport in Kandahar Province; construction of a passenger and cargo vehicle terminal in the center of Farah Province; construction of a 20-kilometer road from Aybak to Rui Do Ab in Aybak, Samangan Province; construction of public hospitals in Yawan District of Badakhshan Province, Dand Patan District of Paktia Province, and Gulran District of Herat Province; and completion of the remaining works related to electricity supply and distribution projects in various provinces.
The approved projects are financed by the IEA.
