Under the leadership of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the National Procurement Commission approved contracts for 12 projects worth around 10 billion Afghanis and made amendments to 15 others.
In the scheduled meeting of the National Procurement Commission held on October 5, 2024 at the Marmarin Palace, 30 projects were presented for approval, as per the agenda. Out of these, contracts for 12 projects were approved, 15 were amended, one was canceled, and two projects' contract pricing was referred to designated committees for further negotiation with the winning companies. These committees are tasked with submitting their reports to the leadership of the National Procurement Commission.
The approved and amended projects include completing the remaining construction work on university dormitories in the provinces of Kandahar, Zabul, and Nimroz, the reconstruction of Ahmad Shah Baba International Airport in Kandahar, the reconstruction of the remaining 25 kilometers of the Qaisar-Laman road in Badghis Province, the rehabilitation of both railway and non-railway facilities of the Hairatan-Mazar-e-Sharif railway, internal road repairs in Kabul city, and several other projects funded by the Islamic Emirate.
