The Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, His Excellency Al-Haj Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund, inaugurated the newly constructed Hasan Basri (Rahimahullah) Grand Mosque in the Arg and performed the Friday prayer there.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Ministers, several cabinet ministers, the Chief of Staff, heads of Emirate institutions, a number of scholars, and ordinary citizens. Before the Friday prayer, following the recitation of the Holy Quran, Sheikh Faqir Muhammad Muhammadi delivered a comprehensive and inclusive supplication for the well-being and success of the country, its people, and the entire Islamic world.

The Hasan Basri (Rahimahullah) Grand Mosque was built by Afghan engineers and skilled craftsmen using marble from Chisht Sharif in Herat, alabaster from Helmand, stone from Maidan Wardak, wood from Kunar and Nuristan, and other local materials. Including the green area, the complex occupies 1,060 square meters of land, with the mosque itself covering 627 square meters and accommodating 1,000 worshippers at a time.

The mosque, whose foundation stone was laid by His Excellency the Prime Minister Al-Haj Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund on 13 February 2023, features one dome, four minarets, an appropriate underground space for a library, teaching, and prayer, as well as central heating, hot and cold water, and a control room for electricity, internet, and the audio system.
