Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Meets with the Governor of Samangan

H.E. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met with the Governor of Samangan, Mr. Mohammad Shoaib Resalat, and officials from the committees assigned to address the needs of the earthquake-affected population at the Provincial Governor’s Office during his visit to Samangan Province.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested progress reports from the heads of the designated committees regarding the implementation of their respective responsibilities in various areas.

In their briefings, committee officials reported that essential food items, medicines, clothing, tents, and other necessary shelter materials have been distributed to all citizens affected by the earthquake. They further noted that individuals with minor injuries have received immediate medical attention, while those requiring extended care have been provided with financial assistance.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the committees and emphasized the importance of promptly completing the survey of all earthquake-affected areas in Samangan Province. He instructed that the survey should include comprehensive documentation of the martyrs, the injured, as well as fully and partially damaged houses. He further stressed that the distribution of assistance allocated by the Islamic Emirate must be conducted in a transparent and equitable manner.

According to official reports, the recent earthquake in Samangan Province has resulted in 13 fatalities and 344 injuries. Furthermore, 419 houses and 12 mosques have been completely destroyed, while 593 houses have sustained partial damage.
