National Procurement Commission Approves 21 Projects Valued at Approximately AFN 2.5 Billion

The regular meeting of the National Procurement Commission, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, H.E. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, was held today at Marmarin Palace. A total of 33 projects were presented to the meeting for approval.

Following deliberations, 21 projects valued at approximately AFN 2.5 billion were approved, and amendments were made to seven projects. In addition, one project was referred for re-launch through an open national bidding process, and one project was suspended due to deficiencies in the previous performance of the awarded company. A committee was appointed to conduct a comprehensive review of all existing contracts of the company and to submit its report to the leadership of the National Procurement Commission upon completion.

Furthermore, one project was returned to the relevant ministry due to procurement-related issues, and designated committees were assigned to negotiate prices with the awarded companies for two projects and to submit their reports to the leadership of the National Procurement Commission.

The approved and amended projects include the procurement of scanners for customs facilities at the airports of Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar, Balkh, and Khost provinces; the rehabilitation of the main road from Gardez to Khost; the construction of police headquarters buildings in Ghazni and Farah provinces; detailed design and feasibility studies for the Sultan Ibrahim Dam irrigation project in Sar-e Pol Province; electricity supply projects for the Sancharak, Sozma Qala, and Gosfandi districts of Sar-e Pol Province; the construction of public hospitals in Qala-e-Zal District of Kunduz Province, Gereshk District of Helmand Province, Shinwari District of Parwan Province, Parchaman District of Farah Province, Lakan District of Khost Province, Warsaj District of Takhar Province, Alasay District of Kapisa Province, Shakardara District of Kabul Province, and Daraim District of Badakhshan Province; as well as the completion of the remaining works of several electricity supply and distribution projects in various provinces.

The approved projects will be financed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
