The meeting was attended, alongside other cabinet officials, by the respected Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Al Hajj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund; the respected Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, His Excellency, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi; and the Minister for Refugees and Repatriation, Mr. Mawlavi Abdul Kabir.
The assembly unequivocally condemned the coercive and degrading treatment of Afghan refugees, denouncing such conduct as antithetical to Islamic doctrine, fundamental human rights, and established international norms. These actions were deemed a violation of all moral and legal standards governing neighborly relations.
The meeting further appealed to the people of Pakistan, political parties, religious scholars, and influential societal figures to uphold their Islamic and fraternal obligations in this matter. It was underscored that Afghan-Pakistani relations have historically been rooted in mutual respect and cooperation. The preservation of these religious, historical, and cultural bonds was emphasized as imperative and mutually advantageous. Any departure from this path was characterized as detrimental to both nations.
The meeting also called upon the United Nations and international agencies to discharge their obligations in preventing a deepening humanitarian crisis and ensuring the dignified repatriation of Afghan refugees.
In addition, the High Commission for Refugee Affairs was directed to mobilize all available resources, as in previous instances, to promptly furnish essential services, temporary shelter, and logistical support to returning Afghan nationals.
