Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Holds Talks with President of the International Kurash Federation


Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, His Excellency Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, held a formal meeting with Haider Farman, President of the Development of the Asian Games Council and the International Kurash Federation, accompanied by his delegation, at the Olympic building. This engagement was attended by the General Director of the National Olympic Committee, Physical Education and Sports, Mawlavi Ahmadullah Wasiq, along with other senior officials.
During the meeting, Mr. Farman expressed his satisfaction with the visit, emphasizing that the realities of Afghan society under the Islamic Emirate diverge starkly from the narrative disseminated by Western media and political actors. He noted that his discussions with multiple Afghan officials concerning the state of sports in Afghanistan had been positive. Mr. Farman outlined initiatives to cultivate opportunities for collaboration and facilitate the exchange of expertise between Afghan athletes and the international sports community across various disciplines.
Mr. Farman further acknowledged the significant accomplishments of Afghan athletes, underscoring the necessity of inviting international organizations dedicated to sports development to visit Afghanistan and conduct direct assessments of the situation on the ground. Concluding his remarks, he framed sports as a pivotal avenue through which the Islamic Emirate could enhance its relations with the global community, emphasizing the critical need for bilateral cooperation in this field.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Kabir commended the latent potential of Afghan youth, highlighting their recent successes at the international level. He urged international sports organizations to intensify their cooperation with Afghan athletes and institutions, particularly in the realm of knowledge transfer and the exchange of best practices.
His Excellency Mawlavi Abdul Kabir reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s unequivocal support for athletes and expressed the government’s readiness to engage in comprehensive cooperation with international bodies in the sports sector. He further stressed that the Islamic Emirate is committed to the education and constructive engagement of the younger generation. Additionally, he pointed to the cessation of drug cultivation and use as a critical achievement, noting that Afghan youth are now being redirected from destructive behaviors toward more productive and beneficial activities.10:55
