H.E Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held an introductory meeting today with Mr. Alireza Bigdeli, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Afghanistan.
In the meeting, Iranian Ambassador Mr. Alireza Bigdeli highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and boosting economic cooperation, with a focus on activating the Chabahar Port. He mentioned the memorandums of understanding between Iran and Afghanistan and emphasized Iran's commitment to expanding cooperation with Afghanistan. He also extended an invitation to the Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs to visit Tehran.
H.E Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, congratulated Mr. Alireza Bigdeli on his new appointment and, recognizing the long-standing relations and common interests between Afghanistan and Iran, expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the Islamic Emirate's commitment to enhancing economic and political ties with Iran and urged Iranian investors and traders to invest in Afghanistan. He also stated that Afghanistan's relations with other countries will not be swayed by external pressures, highlighting the Emirate's focus on regional stability and economic development.
Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to Iran for accommodating Afghan refugees and stressed the need for better support and facilities. He advocated for a more considerate approach towards refugees and opposed their forced return.
H.E Mawlawi Abdul Kabir assured that there are no issues in Afghanistan that could harm relations with Iran. He also highlighted that the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics have been eliminated and that the water-sharing dispute between the two countries has been resolved through mutual understanding. He also warned that irresponsible comments could undermine the relationship between the two countries.
