The scheduled session of the Economic Commission, presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, convened at the Marmarin Palace. In accordance with the meeting's agenda, deliberations were held on the proposed initiative for the construction of the "Bam Herat" recreational complex by the private sector in Herat Province, the allocation and commercialization of state-owned scrap metals to iron-melting facilities, the contractual arrangement concerning the extraction of gold from the Weka Dur gold mine in Badakhshan Province, alongside various other pending matters.
Following comprehensive deliberations, the proposal for the development of the "Bam Herat" recreational complex by the private sector in Herat Province received formal approval. Pursuant to the outlined plan, the private sector shall allocate an investment exceeding one billion Afghanis for the complex’s construction, which is projected to generate employment opportunities for approximately four thousand individuals.
Moreover, within the same session, the Ministry of Finance was mandated to reconcile unsettled financial accounts with iron-melting enterprises, recover outstanding debts owed to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan by various companies, and fulfill financial obligations toward entities to which the Islamic Emirate is indebted. The Ministry was further instructed to enforce the directives of the His Highness, The Amir-ul-Mu’minin (may Allah protect him) pertaining to the allocation and sale of state-owned scrap metals.
The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum was concurrently directed to annul the prior bidding process related to the extraction and processing of gold at the Weka Dur mine in Badakhshan Province and to initiate a renewed tendering procedure for the site. This renewed process is expected to culminate in the selection of a qualified and capable company.
Concluding the meeting, reports on several follow-up matters were submitted and ratified by the Economic Commission, accompanied by pertinent recommendations for execution transmitted to the relevant ministries and institutions.
