The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, held a meeting with a delegation of Islamic scholars from India and Bangladesh at his office.
During the discussions, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored that the Islamic Emirate remains committed to presenting the holy religion of Islam to its people in its purest and most authentic form, free from distortions or superstitions. To realize this objective, the Islamic Emirate has enhanced its educational institutions, established new academic bodies, and introduced substantial reforms to the educational curriculum.
He further noted that alongside these religious and educational initiatives, the Islamic Emirate has undertaken substantial efforts to improve the country’s economic conditions. Major economic projects have been launched, trade relations with neighboring countries, the region, and the international community have been expanded, industrial progress has been made, and steps toward building a self-sustaining economy free from foreign dependency have been initiated.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that the freezing of Afghanistan’s national assets and the imposition of economic sanctions remain significant challenges to the country’s economic progress. He reiterated the Islamic Emirate's desire to establish political and economic relations with the global community based on mutual interests and under the framework of Sharia law. He stressed the importance of a self-sufficient Afghanistan, which he described as beneficial not only for the country but also for the region and the world at large.
The visiting scholars from India and Bangladesh expressed their satisfaction with the establishment of a Sharia-based governance system in Afghanistan. They also shared their perspectives on further strengthening this system.
