A special meeting, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, was held today, December 15, 2024, at Marmarin Palace. The purpose of the meeting was to follow up on the economic issues discussed with the Russian delegation.
During the meeting, detailed discussions took place, and the Ministries of Water and Energy, Mines and Petroleum, Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Public Works, Urban Development and Housing, Transport and Aviation, and Industry and Commerce, along with the Railway Directorate under the Ministry of Public Works and the General Directorate of State-Owned Corporations, were assigned specific tasks. Each ministry and agency was directed to identify major and significant economic projects within their respective sectors, compile comprehensive details, and share them with the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Office. The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Office will, in turn, present these projects to the delegation led by the Secretary-General of the Russian Federation’s National Security Council, who visited Kabul on November 25, 2024. During that visit, the Russian delegation had a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, where both sides discussed increasing the levels of economic cooperation, trade, and transit between the two countries. It was emphasized that both parties would work jointly in these areas.
Additionally, the meeting discussed key economic sectors where Russian companies have shown interest in investing. Following extensive deliberations, the Inter-Ministerial Investment Committee, operating under the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, was tasked with organizing an online meeting with the Russian companies to establish better coordination and collaboration.
