Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met with officials and members of the National Union of Tourism Companies at the Arg.
During the meeting, Qazi Jan Quraishi, Head of the National Union of Tourism Companies, speaking on behalf of others, described Afghanistan as unique in its history, culture, natural beauty, and strategic position. He noted that by resolving existing challenges and enhancing facilities, the country could emerge as a key tourism destination regionally and globally, generating jobs for its citizens.
He submitted their requests and proposals in writing, including the issuance and renewal of tourism company licenses, continued cooperation from relevant institutions, the installation of informational signage in major international languages at historical and recreational sites, and the introduction of online visas for tourists.
Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, while welcoming the participants, said that improved nationwide security and the relatively low cost of tourism services in Afghanistan, compared to other countries, have contributed to a rise in the number of visitors to the country.
He noted that although certain gaps still exist, the officials of the Islamic Emirate are aware of them and are working to resolve these issues. He stressed that business and investment in Afghanistan should be directed toward supporting the war-affected population and giving priority to national interests.
In conclusion, the Chief of Staff assured them that their requests and proposals would be shared with the relevant authorities for necessary action.
