Contracts Formalized for Electricity Generation and Transmission Projects with an Investment of 20.7 Billion Afghanis

In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Al-Hajj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, agreements for seven electricity generation projects and three electricity transmission projects were officially concluded this morning at the Government Media and Information Center between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) and private sector stakeholders.

The seven electricity generation projects comprise:

A 40-megawatt solar power initiative in Balkh province.

A 5-megawatt solar power initiative in Herat province.

A 10-megawatt solar power initiative in Laghman province.

The initial phase of a 200-megawatt wind power initiative in Herat, producing 43.2 megawatts of electricity.

A 40-megawatt solar power initiative in Logar province.

A 40.25-megawatt solar power initiative in Nangarhar province.

A 50-megawatt gas-powered electricity initiative in Jawzjan province.

 

These initiatives will collectively generate 228.45 megawatts of electricity.

The three electricity transmission projects comprise:

The establishment of the Eastern Kandahar Power Station.

The establishment of the Qalat Power Station in Zabul province.

The extension of 110-kilovolt power lines from Kajaki to Kandahar.

For the execution of these projects, domestic and international private enterprises will allocate 20.7 billion Afghanis, ensuring strict adherence to prescribed standards and completion within the designated timeframe.
