The Eid al-Fitr prayer was solemnly performed this morning at the Arg Palace in the presence of senior officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
Among the attendees at the prayer ceremony were the Deputy Prime Ministers for Economic and Administrative Affairs, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, cabinet ministers, and various civilian and military officials of the Islamic Emirate, along with representatives from diverse communities. Following the prayer, they exchanged Eid greetings.
Prior to the prayer, Mufti Mr. Mahmood Zakari, the Imam and Khatib of the Abdul Rahman Grand Mosque, delivered an extensive sermon on the virtues and blessings of the holy month of Ramadan, drawing upon the Quran and Hadith. He extended Eid greetings to all Afghans, the Muslim Ummah, and particularly to the oppressed people of Palestine.
Subsequently, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, His Excellency Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, conveyed his sincere Eid greetings to His Highness Amir-ul-Mu’minin (may Allah protect him), the esteemed Prime Minister, cabinet members, governors, security personnel, Mujahideen, families of martyrs, the martyr-supporting nation, the Muslim Ummah, and the Muslim brothers and sisters of Gaza. He underscored the significance of unity and fraternity as fundamental elements of national success and prayed for their perpetuity. He urged collective efforts toward the advancement of Afghanistan.
He also called upon Afghan expatriates to return to their homeland, emphasizing that Afghanistan belongs to all its citizens and should be developed collectively. Furthermore, he reiterated that the Islamic Emirate aspires to maintain positive and respectful relations with all nations on the basis of mutual respect.
Following this, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Al-Hajj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, also extended Eid greetings to the global Muslim community. He expressed his contentment that, after years of war and hardship, Eid is now celebrated in an environment of complete security and peace under the Islamic Emirate. Stressing national solidarity, he urged all Afghans to contribute to the country’s development through unity and cooperation.
He further asserted that Afghanistan's reconstruction would not be undertaken by foreign powers and that true peace and prosperity could only be realized within the nation’s own borders. He called upon all citizens to serve their country with sincerity. Additionally, he encouraged the international community to establish constructive economic and political engagements with the Islamic Emirate, emphasizing the Emirate’s readiness for appropriate interactions grounded in its economic policies and principles of mutual respect.
Subsequently, Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, presented the Eid message of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate, Al-Hajj Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund.
In his message, the Prime Minister extended his congratulations to the Afghan people and the broader Muslim world on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, praying that Allah accepts their prayers, fasting, supplications, and righteous deeds.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Eid embodies a message of kinship, fraternity, compassion, and unity among Muslims. He called upon all to strengthen familial bonds, purge their hearts of envy and animosity, and sincerely pray for one another’s well-being.
Additionally, he appealed to officials, traders, investors, and financially stable citizens to support the underprivileged, including orphans and destitute families, ensuring that they too partake in the joy of Eid.
The Prime Minister reassured the populace that, akin to the previous year, the current year would also prioritize major infrastructural projects, investment attraction, water resource management, agricultural and trade promotion, educational and healthcare improvements, and employment generation.
He implored neighboring nations to refrain from forcibly deporting Afghan refugees and reassured regional and global actors that Afghanistan does not interfere in the internal affairs of other nations. Rather, the Islamic Emirate seeks to foster positive diplomatic relations based on Islamic tenets and national interests.
The message further urged the international community to recognize the Islamic Emirate’s goodwill and to engage in dialogue and constructive engagement rather than resorting to restrictive measures and pressures.
Towards the conclusion of his message, the Prime Minister expressed unwavering solidarity with the besieged Muslims of Palestine and Gaza, who continue to endure relentless Zionist aggression and bombardment. He affirmed that their suffering is deeply felt within the Islamic Emirate and will never be forgotten. He invoked the example of past tyrannical nations Aad, Thamud, and Pharaoh—praying for the alleviation of Palestinian suffering and the downfall of the oppressive Israeli aggressors.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Mawlavi Fariduddin Mahmood, the head of the Afghanistan Academy of Sciences, offered prayers for the unity, prosperity, and well-being of the Afghan nation under the framework of a Sharia-based system.
