Economic Commission Approves the National Policy for the Development of the Agriculture and Livestock Sector and the Development Plan for the Fisheries Sector

The regular meeting of the Economic Commission, chaired by Al-Hajj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the IEA was convened at the Marmarine Palace. During the meeting, the National Policy for the Development of the Agriculture and Livestock Sector was presented and, following deliberations, approved. The principal objectives of this policy include the mechanization of the agriculture and livestock sector; the development of agricultural, irrigation, and livestock research systems; the management of irrigation systems; support for investment in the agriculture, irrigation, and livestock sectors; and ensuring public access to high-quality agricultural and animal products.

In addition, the meeting reviewed and approved the Development Plan for the Fisheries Sector. According to this plan, through private sector investment, 7,700 small, medium, and large fish production and aquaculture facilities will be established on 6,500 hectares of land across various regions of the country. Upon implementation of this plan, employment opportunities will be created for 50,000 citizens directly and 250,000 citizens indirectly.

At the conclusion of the meeting, reports on several follow-up matters were also presented, and the necessary instructions were issued to the relevant institutions.

The aforementioned decisions were forwarded to the Office of His Highness, the Amir al-Mu’minin, Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada (may Allah Almighty protect him), for final approval.
