Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, His Excellency Al-Haj Mula Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund chaired the regular meeting of the National Procurement Commission.
In accordance with the established agenda, 42 projects were presented to the meeting for consideration and approval.
Following deliberations, seventeen projects, with a total value exceeding one billion Afghanis, were approved, while amendments were made to fourteen projects. Additionally, responsibilities were assigned to designated committees with respect to six projects to conduct negotiations with the winning companies regarding pricing and to submit their reports to the leadership of the National Procurement Commission. Contracts for two projects were canceled on the grounds that the winning companies were unwilling to implement the projects at the agreed contract prices, and it was decided that these projects would be re-announced for open bidding and that the respective companies would be referred to the debarment committee. Two additional projects were likewise re-announced for open bidding due to the fact that the prices proposed by the companies during the bidding process were significantly higher than the estimated project costs. Furthermore, with regard to one project, the relevant authority was instructed to reassess the qualified companies and to submit a report to the leadership of the National Procurement Commission.
The approved and amended projects include the construction of a dormitory building for Panjshir University, the construction of a Faculty of Medicine building for Badakhshan University, the completion of the first and second phases of the road extending from Kunar to Nuristan, the construction of public hospitals in Giro District of Ghazni Province, Bandar District of Faryab Province, and Spin Ghar District of Nangarhar Province, as well as electricity supply and distribution projects in various provinces. The approved projects are financed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
