The Haram Srai (residence)

The Haram Srai is regarded as one of the most ancient edifices within the Arg (Presidential Palace), with its construction initiated shortly after the completion of the Koti Baghcha (Koti Garden). The building of the Kabul Haram Srai was finalized in the year 1308 AH under the direct supervision and general oversight of Sardar Habibullah Khan.

The Haram Srai comprises 33 rooms, purposefully designed as a residence for royal families. An extensive arrangement was also established to meet the specific needs of these royal households. During that era, the Arg’s Haram Srai was esteemed as one of the most significant and expansive haram srai (residences) of its kind.
